Also, your question is really unclear. Do you expect a how-to guide to write bestsellers? Because if those things existed, we'd all be rich and famous... Answer 2

Good books like Twilight? Don't make me laugh. That's juxtaposition, my friend.
Books on how to write? That's another matter. Pretty much every How To Write book will tell you the same thing, so just go for the newest one. But it's not all about the how to that you should read up on. You should read books on publishing, they'll help you turn $ into $$$ when selling your novel. But reading about writing can only get you so far. It takes about 10 000 hours to master any craft, be it the violin or writing. Factor in sleeping and living, that's 5 years. You won't be a master right away, and the best way is not to have someone tell you how to write but to discover it for yourself, learning by observing and doing... or reading the work of others and deciding for yourself what works and what doesn't and writing a lot to hone your "voice" and find your style. And even then, you could spend forever trying to write something that will sell, but if you don't have the imagination or the cleverness or the experience you may never make it work. It's as much inside as out, but even if you don't have all that now doesn't mean you wont. I've read a How To Write book, years after I started writing, and I didn't learn anything new, I only got this warm feeling at all the "Make Sure You..."'s that I'd already made sure of anyway. If you're looking for books on writing, try reading:
'On Writing' by Stephen King, 'The Element of Style' by William Strunk & E.B. White, 'Creating Fiction' edited by Julie Checkoway. I'd also suggest checking out the websites of your favourite authors as sometimes some of them have tips and examples of books to read to help with writing. Also, check out Writer's Digest, you should be able to find it at your nearest bookstore. As for the prices, I'm not quite how much they are where you live because I'm from South Africa and the prices do range but if I had to convert I'd say it should be about $20 more or less. I hope I've helped you

Writing teen fiction is like writing any other fiction - it's a matter of planning our your novel, creating your characters and providing valid motivation. The language in teen fiction is going to be different than the language in adult fiction, but the writing technique is the same. << GO BACK to questions
