I'm looking for literary agents, and what I've written is a novel about a girl becoming a Christian. I haven't found any agencies that offer to look at "Christian" novels, but I have found some willing to look at Religious fiction. Anyone care to help me out?

Christianity is a religion, but not all religions are Christian. An agency that accepts religious fiction should accept Christianity based fiction, unless it notes otherwise. Answer 2
You might try looking at Christian publishers, and see if they take submissions directly from authors.
In general, for an agent based in a mostly Christian country, I would assume that Religious and Christian meant the same thing. Answer 3
For significant American publishers, I think they would amount to about the same thing. I'm sure that Moslem or Buddhist religious novels do get published in societies where those faiths are predominant, but little or none is published here.
The only distinction that might exist is that most American companies that publish primarily religious novels come from a strong Protestant/Evangelical perspective, and many would not under any circumstances touch a work that's from the Roman Catholic perspective. Some, by no means all, are actively hostile to Catholicism and regard it as not truly Christian. Religious fiction from a Mormon perspective would have similar problems, but there are publishers who will take it, and I have seen such books.
Anyway, if you find a house that does religious novels, go ahead and submit it. The worst that can happen is a rejection slip, and if you're an unpublished writer trying to break in, you'd better be prepared to see those. << GO BACK to questions
