Can you start your own book publishing company?
|
I was wondering if you can start your own book publishing house, and if there would be any chance that it would succeed. I was also wondering if I did start my own, if I could be a publisher and editor.
And one more question.. Do you have more than one publisher and editor.

Sure you can start up your own publishing house. But you do need lots of money for it.
Yes you can do both jobs in your own place. If the demand calls for extra work, then get hire more people.

There are certainly many small publishing houses as well as POD publishing services that cater to "self-publsihers". Many of the former all use the same printer/distributor.
You (your business) certainly needs to be able to do all of the following:
Get clients that produce good material (authors)
Edit their work
Do layout
Get the book printed at a competitive price
Have good distribution
Market the books
You need to do these things at a cost that allows you to make a living. Do you have the skills, connections and financing to do that? If so, then yes, there is a chance you could succeed.
There are many printers who will work with small publishing companies and even non publishers for that matter as long as materials are given to them in print ready format. That's not the hard part. << GO BACK to questions
