Does anybody know a good book-writing software to buy or download?

I tried using Microsoft Word until I found out the version I had was just a trial ha ha. I really want to publish a book, I have some things written out on paper, but I found that it is more convenient to type it out. I wonder what best-selling authors use. I don't know much about typing my story on my PC because up until now, I've been writing, so any advice is good advice. Thanks again!

Most authors use Microsoft Word. What is wrong with it? Does it make some sort of chemically unstable virus to launch itself onto your document and devour it in a matter of seconds... No? Didn't think so. I use Microsoft Word... so does JK Rowling as a matter of fact.
