Most children books have a learning motive to them. Kids ages 4-7 range from preschool/kindergarten to grade 2/3. Think about what you learned when you were in those grades. Learning the alphabet, shapes, numbers, nature e.t.c. You also learn how to deal with bullies, not being scared for your first day of school, friendships, and other life problems. Make sure your book doesn't have hard vocab words. Trying talk to a little sibling or cousin and look into their interests so you can a childs perspective. Go to the public library and check it out some books for little kids (say they are for your younger siblings :P ) You can write a book about someone's very first day of school, how they are scared, and there parents tell them all the funs things at school trying to make them less scared.
