hmm i don't know if this is the first step, but think of a moral lesson you want to teach/show to children....2-5? hmm..maybe you should introduce the characters first or the place where the event will occur? something like that. Answer 2
there is a woman whom I am very good friends with who has won several awards for her children's book. I would suggest emailing her
search for Gina Otto
it's the second link. Send her an email, i'm sure she'd be happy to help! Answer 3
Momma,
First you have to know exactly what you want to convey to those who would read your book. You'll need to do a bit of research to find out exactly what's selling these days. One day it's Bob the Builder and the next it's Spiderman.
Children's books are very hard to break into when you're talking about publication. Most of the publishers are looking for celebrities who are interested in writing in this genre. Sad, but true.
Is it impossible. No! Get yourself a copy of Writer's Market for the current year and look up a literary agent who represents this type of work. You'll need to query them either in a query letter or a book proposal. Either way, you'll need to make sure it's very professional looking and that it's a good idea . . . something unique.
If you want to have graphics, you'll need to find an artist who can do this for you. There are plenty out there and if you happen to land an agent they can direct you to a few of them. Sometimes the publisher will take care of that part of it.
One of my short stories was published in an anthology called The Rippling Effect. Amazon has this book on their site under Tears of the Phoenix, The Rippling Effect. Anyway, in the pages of the book you'll find the artists who did the graphics for all the works.
Good luck!
