How do i go about publishing a childrens book?

I wrote a childrens book, and i want to know how to go about getting it out there to the public, i would like to sell my idea to a major book company. What should i do?

Purchase or check out from your local public library a copy of the book Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market. It has publishers contact information; as well as information on submission format, and the answers to the how, when, and where questions unpublished writers have. You might also look at createspace at www.createspace.com. They are owned by Amazon. They publish and sell (through amazon.com) out of print and self published books, movies and audio recordings.
