How do you come up with a good idea for writing a fiction book?

What is the best process for writing one?

All Answers To Questions

Answer 1

just smoke some pot and it all comes out naturally

Answer 2

Usually the idea will just come to you. The best way is to start with a detailed outline. You can then build off of it and work your way up to a full novel Good luck!

Answer 3

Lol I actually laughed out loud to the first answerer cause it'd probably work. Anyways, just wait till an idea comes. You can't force one. If you see a lady bug wandering down a plant, think what would happen if an ant went up to the ladybug, or if it suddenly starting raining and the lady bug had to take shelter under a mushroom with a beatle. Just let your imagination flow and don't be embarrassed where it takes you.

Something that intrigues or inspires you. Reading good stories like Lord of the Rings, etc. really inspired me. What you need to do is find that thing that inspires you, makes you want to write, and began some basic planning 1. what is your book about? Leave this open, not closed, the book may develop into something you don't expect 2. who are your characters? Characters can come from us, and others around us. Make them as original and fun to work with as possible. 3. where is this story going to take place? Make sure the place completely works. Don't put the setting in the middle of Nevada if one aspect is about water. 4. what drives the characters into action, and what brings them together as friends or enemies. Make this convincing. 5. Why are these characters playing along with the plot you give them? Don't make it obvious that you're leading them. Make it look like they do it themselves for a good reason, usually for an internal reason. Sometimes they really do seem to come alive and make decisions 'on their own.'

Answer 5

Well, you have to have a somewhat creative mind with some leisure time on your hands. If you are into a lot of sports or something, I don't recommend you trying to write a book. But if you do have free time, the best way to start up is brainstorming/spectating. You might get an idea from a memory you have, or by observing peoples actions, sometimes it can be simply something you enjoy and would like to see as a book. Once you come up with an idea, find out what you want your main conflict in the story will be. Plan out a plot diagram. Have your rising action, climax, your falling action, and resolution. Sometimes if you lay everything out, it all will come to you easier, and you can begin writing. Personally, I didn't do any of that, I just got lucky and an idea sparked me, and I got on the computer and wrote my topic. That hardest part for me was coming up with a beginning. I thought of events, but the beginning had me stumped for a while. Good luck to you! Hope that helped some!

Answer 6

That's a good question; and the answer is that there are a lot of ways. Look around; try to draw inspiration from the things or people around you (for instance: you could look at your pillow and be inspired to write a story about a girl who predicts the future in her dreams). Think about what you like to read and what you're interested in (like, for me, that could be fashion and Tudor history), and try to apply those to a plot. Keep a notebook with you and jot down ideas, descriptions, characters, bits of dialogue. Always be on the lookout for a good idea; it could come from reading a story in the newspaper or from a dream. Inspiration is all around, but it's up to you to find it. I just found this really great fiction writing site: http://writingfiction.suite101.com/ You should check it out! You could also try reading Writer's Digest magazine for help with your writing (they have articles about all different types of writing; not just fiction, and also publishing tips. Great magazine; really helpful.) http://writersdigest.com/GeneralMenu/ As for the best process to write a book?
