There's a series with quite a few books by Laurell K. Hamilton. The main character is a female vampire hunter who actually ends up in a relationship with a vampire and several were-animals. It's a pretty good series. Answer 8
I love the vampire stories by Elaine Bergstrom. I think they are the best. The first in the series is Shattered Glass.
P.N. Elrod also writes about vampires. The first in that series is Death and the Maiden (I think).
Stephen Brust wrote one very good vampire book called Agyar.
S.P. Somtow wrote 2 vampire books Vampire Junction and Valentine. Somtow's stuff is pretty brutal, but if you can handle that he's an excellent writer.

Charlie Huston wrote Already Dead and its sequel, No Dominion in addition to a slew of mystery novels. His books are gory, gritty, and very good and the society and clan-structure of his vampires are well thought out.
Segei Lukyanenko's books Night Watch and Day Watch were published in Russia first and have recently made their debut in America, translated into English. They're dark urban fantasies featuring magicians, witches, vampires, and shapeshifters. They're also some of the best books to hit the genre in the past decade.
Robin McKinley wrote a great modern fantasy, Sunshine. It features vampires, magicians, and half-demons in addition to a police agency dedicated to the super natural. This a fun, witty read.
S.E. Hinton recently wrote Hawke's Harbor, about the relationship between a vampire and a Renfield-esque character. Good, character-driven novel.
Stephen Brust wrote Agyar, a memoir-style novel of a vampire's life. It also features ghosts and dark humor. Decent book.
