Is there a good resource on writing a family history book?

Would like to write about four major family names would like it to be a creative wrting not pages of family trees.

I just finished one for my Grandchild. I scanned old family pictures & collected everybody's remembrences of that person. Then I went on mypublisher.com & worked it all out. each grandparent had a page ( you can do text or pictures on each page) I just wrote a preface on the first page & plunged in. I am like you-I did not want just tree limbs! I wanted him to know everything I could gather about all of them-favorite color, personality ever favorite blessings. It was GREAT!! Try it-it takes some time, but you can work on it here & there. It is the best project I ever did.I ended it with his page & what I hoped he would take with him into the future.

I recommend this book: The Nuts & Bolts Guide to Writing Your Life Story by Jan Upton Seale I took a class from this writer and she gets you on track putting your memories on paper. Also check your public library as there are a wealth of titles on this topic. Each is useful in some way.
