How to Write a Damn Good Novel (Parts I & II) by James N Frey, shows you the secret of creating high drama--engaging characters. It pretty much walks you through all the aspects you have to consider, like how their past affects them, what is within their ability, the dimensions of personality, how they should act for optimal drama, the importance of inner conflict, how to go back to character with everything and so much more you will learn about. Honestly, I don't remember how I came across this book anymore, but I am so glad I read it.
