Answer 1

the Good Earth it was written in 1931 and also a book called Dune it was written in the 1900's sometime

Answer 2

Try Jules Verne or H.G. Wells. Both famous SF authors of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Cheers! Btw, "Dune" wasn't published until 1965!

Answer 3

not quite the 1900's yet but pretty close to it. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde is utter genius. This book was first published in 1891 (pretty close to the 1900's). I honestly believe it was way ahead of its time. After its first publication that was quite a controversy concerning the book itself and the author. You can look more into that if you would like, but the basic synopsis of this book can be found here: Picture of Dorian Grey, The (1891), Oscar Wilde's only novel, it gives a melodramatic account of a beautiful youth who keeps his good looks while his portrait changes to reflect its subject's every vice and profligacy. or if you would like to read more about it try this: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5297.The_Picture_of_Dorian_Gray it is one of those books that you will continually think about your life during the reading. Then you get to the end and really start combing over your life. I would highly recommend this book!

Answer 4

Jules Verne: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea; Journey to the Centre of the Earth H.G. Wells: The Time Machine

Answer 5

You didn't bother to say what the "one kind of science fiction" was. Since the vast majority of sci-fi was written in the 1900s, you'v basically only eliminated stuff from the last ten years, Frankenstein, all of Jules Verne, Kipling & Twain, and half of Victor Hugo. You have left yourself the science fiction of the pulps, the golden age, the new wave, & the cyberwave.

Answer 6

Buck Rogers was written in the first half of the 20th century and told us about life in the 25th century. There's a ton of books and graphic novels available about him. Good luck.

Answer 7

"A Princess of Mars" by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The original title was "Under The Moons of Mars" by Norman Bean. He felt people would think he was crazy, and signed the manuscript, Normal Bean, and they changed it to Norman Bean. Burroughs went on to write tons of science fiction and adventure stories.
