I work for the largest magazine manufacturer in the world, RR Donnelley & Sons. We do it all in our factory, we take what the customer wants and make it into a finished product and then ship it all over the world. What i would suggest you take are courses in graphic design. All of the magazine covers we print are created using some sort of graphic arts program. I would also suggest finding a part time job in a printing facility, just to become familiar with how the product is manufactured. I hope this information will be helpful to you.
