What's the best way to find an agent?
I want to submit a manuscript to a Christian book publisher. They told me they don't take unsolicited work but will work with agents. Any suggestions?

It is just as hard to find an agent as it is to get any publisher to reaed your manuscript. There are millions like you, and you have to get in line. Even authors who have written and published a few books are having trouble getting manuscripts read these days.
It doesn't matter how talented you are. Almost nobody in the industry will give you the time of day.
It's mostly luck, because it's a lottery - go to any agent's website and you will find the same thing: their submission guidelines will explain everything. Most will say they are closed to submissions. These guys get an average of 300 manuscripts a week.
But, if you are dead set on this and really persistent, find a list of agents online and start working down the list.
Good luck - you will need it. And patience. And a lot of other things. Answer 3
Try http://www.writersandartists.co.uk/ they list reputable agents and publishers.

I suggest finding agents that are active and have a reputation - at least 2-3 years in the business. You can start by finding agents that have blogs.
here's some blogs:

You can try this book http://www.amazon.com/2008-Writers-Market-Robert-Brewer/dp/1582974969
You could also try joining a writing community. You can learn a lot from other writers. It has helped me improved my writing and grammar. By the way, I'm on chapteread.com
