When did the idea of fiction writing originate?
...and what was the very first fiction book written?
All Answers To QuestionsAnswer 1
Storytelling is at the root of our humanity. When we tell stories, we tell the world "life is like this!" and the listener/reader/viewer agrees because stories are a metaphor for life as well as entertainment. It's presumed we've been telling stories ever since our creation.
The Epic of Gilgamesh is the first story that we have extant evidence, but certainly stories were spread orally before that (and even after it).
Read Aristotle's "The Poetics" to get a grasp of how old storytelling is as he tries to write down what storytelling is all about for humanity. And he wrote that thousands of years ago.

It started with oral story-telling. Since people could communicate with one another, they also started reciting stories, poetry, and songs as a tradition (think of the birth of culture and language).
With the advent of writing, people thought of preserving these stories so they could not to be forgotten. Prior to this, they memorized stories and songs. Answer 3
The first modern novel is usually recognized as the Tale of Genji.

Probably myths and fables were the first fiction stories. They originated somewhere along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers with ancient civilization.
