When writing a book synopsis...?
I'm trying to write a synopsis for this novella I wrote, in the hopes of sending it out for publishing within the near future. I have a question, though. Synopses are supposed to be in the present tense, third-person view. But what happens when there's a flashback? Because after about six chapters, my story goes into a pretty significant flashback that covers quite a bit of plot points and stuff, and I want to put it in my synopsis, but what would be the best way to do it? Should I actually state that it's a flashback, or should I just change the tense of the verbs? What should I do?

.... when (MC name here) reflects on his/her past, everything changes... actually i don't know. keep the present tense but let the reader know there's a flashback. :) hope this helps Answer 2
A synopsis can be present-tense, as if the story isn't over yet. Background and flashbacks tend to be past-tense, but most of the time, synopsises are in the present tense. So changing the verb tense should be all that's necesary, though you may find it better to mention 'flashback' or a similar word to guide the reader in the right direction. << GO BACK to questions
