Where can I find Information about book publishers?
I want to do some research on book publishers in my area, I have never published a book before and wanted to know where I could find information about publishers in my area (Barrie Canada Ont)
Is there a site that could give a list of publishers and give me some details about them?

I'm not sure about a site, but you could always but 'the writers market 2010'. It tells you everything you need to know about the publishing process. Answer 2
The "Writers and Artists Yearbook" is basically the only book you need. It lists almost all publishers, what they publish and where they are.
Also, DO NOT USE PUBLISHAMERICA, they are a scam and somehow people STILL fall for it... Answer 3
Most publishers are closing their doors to unrepresented authors, unfortunately. This means that to get a story published, you often must first perform the arduous task of finding literary representation (an agent).
