Writing a book synopsis (series)?
If you’re writing a synopsis for the first book in a series, what are the guidelines (as in how much can you link to sequels, how much do you HAVE to mention, how long should the synopsis be, etc)? Thanks
In relation to a series (should I say "this is because X happens in Book Z)

With a synopsis, you explain exactly what your novel is about...what drives the character, all of the things he/she faces, and every trial and triumph. I believe the number of pages for a synopsis vary from publishing house to publishing house. If you want more specific info, I suggest getting an account on absolutewrite.com. You can find tons of examples of query letters and synopsises.
edit: never mention writing a series, especially if it's your first attempt at being published. You want to write a book that can stand alone, but also has potential to be turned into a series. So no, don't mention x happens in z. Just mention what happens in the book you're attempting to get published. << GO BACK to questions
