If you’re writing a synopsis for the first book in a series, what are the guidelines (as in how much can you link to sequels, how much do you HAVE to mention, how long should the synopsis be, etc)? Thanks In relation to a series (should I say "this is because X happens in Book Z)

With a synopsis, you explain exactly what your novel is about...what drives the character, all of the things he/she faces, and every trial and triumph.
