my life of crime, drugs, illegal lawmen, hit men, where to find book publishers addresses to submit my book?

I have an autobiography with my life of crime, drugs, illegal hit men, warlock, mountain living, a very dangerous life on my part that has been self-published and wish to submit it to conventional book publishers that may publish it and so become stocked on bookstore shelves nationwide. So I need addresses of those publishers.

Actually, from what I have heard, regular publishers won't touch books that have been self-published. My advice would be, -don't mention that part to them and they may never know. (Be sure and change the title -<grin>.) Otherwise, being an autobiography and having had contact with the criminal element, is a very good /excellant way to catch their eye. You should approach an agent, though, rather than going directly to a publisher. Publishers don't publish very much that comes straight in off the streets. They want an agent's "approval". It's like what you might be used to - If someone walks in off the street, you don't automatically trust him, right? Somebody has to vouch for him. That's where agents come in. The publishers know the agents - the good ones anyway, so you try and convince the agent that what you have to offer is unique and will sell. Secondly, an agent will get you lots more money than you can ever get on your own. Write a good query letter to an agent (There are instructions about how to do this on a lot of websites), then find a couple dozen or more agents who handle that sort of book and send them all queries. You may find one who will back your writing. http://www.agentquery.com is a good place to find agents. They also have links to information on writing good query letters.

Answer 2

You need an agent first. Then the agent will match your book up to a publisher. To get a major house to even read your work you really really have to have an agent. Good luck

Answer 3

Read through My Starred Questions and the links in the About Me section in my profile for information about publishing. EDIT: Thumbs down? All the information is in my profile. Look if you want. Or don't.
