I am currently writing a book. The book will include realistic locations, address, schools, monuments, buildings, etc. But the fast food places, and other private institutions will not be included. But for the public places, will i need a special documentation from the city to write the story that the setting will take place at a public area?

I tried using Microsoft Word until I found out the version I had was just a trial ha ha. I really want to publish a book, I have some things written out on paper, but I found that it is more convenient to type it out. I wonder what best-selling authors use. I would like some information on how one goes about getting a book written and published. More specifically, I would like to know the workflow involved. I am reading the book burned by ellen hopkins, and i was just curious why are the pages so short and only have few sentences on some pages? and some of them have pages where the words are scattered, or one word alone written off to the side. Is it some sort of book writing style? Just wondering, anyone know?

I have been trying to write books for several years now... but the problem is that I get a great synopsis, but once I start writing the book, i get caught up in thinking about how great it will be if i get it published, and I eventually get bored of writing the book... any suggestions to keep me on task?
