When writing a book synopsis

I'm trying to write a synopsis for this novella I wrote, in the hopes of sending it out for publishing within the near future. I have a question, though. Synopses are supposed to be in the present tense, third-person view. But what happens when there's a flashback? Because after about six chapters, my story goes into a pretty significant flashback that covers quite a bit of plot points and stuff, and I want to put it in my synopsis, but what would be the best way to do it? Should I actually state that it's a flashback, or should I just change the tense of the verbs? What should I do?

Writing a synopsis for my book to send to agentsplease help

I'm trying to write the synopsis so i can send it all off to several agents but I'm not 100% sure on the synopsis. Do I just describe the main plotline of the book (even though that is a lot in itself) or do i include sub-plots too, particularly ones that are vital to the story. And how is it meant to be written, is it meant to keep in tone with the book or just describe the plot bluntly? and one last thing, how long should it be? the novel is 115,000 words if that makes a difference. Thank you so much for your help. xox

Writing a bookWould you read this Two excerpts and a lame synopsis

Hi. I have posted this question a bit, so if you see it again and are annoyed, I will quickly come to defend that I will post a different excerpt. I am 14 and writing a fantasy book. Please give me honest feedback and constructive criticism. If you enjoyed it, here is a link to my other question with a different excerpt:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... Here is the synopsis (which is bad, it's just a makeshift): When 15-year-old Skye and Belle’s mother dies under mysterious circumstances, they find themselves in an alternate world. Part of an ancient prophecy to defeat the Serpens, an evil council made up of murderers striving for power, they are put to the test using skills, strength, and their own inner will. And finally, the excerpt (which is way different than the other one, which has action. This is more romance) “Okay girls. We, meaning Bastian and I, have set up targets at the end of the field. By the end of the week, I expect you to be a couple of inches within the center circle.” I gulped as I saw how small the target was. Narik handed us bows and we went to stand on a chalked line, Bastian coming to a stop beside me. I noticed the size of his forearms and muscles with a small blush. In return for my small blush, I got a weird look from Bastian. Great. “Okay. Show me what you got.” Bastian said, his blue-green eyes twinkling. I picked up an arrow and confidently knocked it in the bow, and then, I let it fly. The arrow went up… and nosedived a couple of feet away. Oh dear. That’s embarrassing, I thought. I knew that beside me Bastian was stifling his amusement. I wanted to hit him. “Here, let me show you.” He came around behind me and gently put one hand on my right upper arm, the other placed on my left lower arm. He pulled my elbow back a bit, angling the bow more towards the sky. He released my elbow, to grab an arrow and knock it in for me. He reclaimed his grip on my arm, soothingly rubbing my arm. What a distraction. He lowered his face to mine, and whispered in my ear, “Now. Let go.” I released. It soared over to the target, hitting the corner of the cloth. I was in euphoria. I turned my head to look at him, and thank him. He was looking at me, something unreadable in his eyes. They were sea waves, lulling me calm. We stood like that for a long minutes, gazing into each other’s eyes, his hand slowly circulating on my arm. I felt as if I were drowning. As for your comment Runningbear, that's how I thought it was too. But on the word check it shows up as not a word.

Need help with formatting a quote according to the MLA requirements How do I quote the synopsis of a book

Here is the original thing I wish I could right, but its not correctly formatted and I would like to use it anyway: Unlike Mrs. Bennet, the author finds love to be very important in marriage. As a matter of fact, according to the synopsis in the Tor Classics Reprint edition (August 15, 1994), the only requirements she really has for her daughters is for them to “Marry, marry well,” and “marry rich” (???). This is my paragraps so far, just wrote it today and I want it to be correctly formatted. What should I do, because its not reffering to Austen's writing, so I can't put (Austen, synopsis) because she didnt write it in the book I'm reading, TOR Classic did. I could put (Tor Classics Reprint edition, August 15, 1994, synopsis). Would that make sense? -Andrew It is according to this book: http://www.amazon.com/Pride-Prejudice-Classics-Jane-Austen/dp/0812523369 I already went to the site and found no help. Their quotes a directly from the author, on a page. Mine is from the synopsis, on the back cover of the book.

Book Publishing and synopsis

Hey guys, when writing a book, how would you write a synopsis for a book with 6 short stories.. thx for your help

Does a synopsis of your book always include an ending

When writing a synopsis with your query letter (two pages) does this include the ending of your story? So is it Yes or No? I've seen both answers, I'm leaning towards a yes, but i'm a little confused, thanks.

I39m trying to write a bookwhat do you think of the synopsis

I love writing and I've been toying around with this idea: Abigail Anderson's life dramatically changed ten years ago when she killed her would be rapist, her brother Devon. After countless hours of therapy, her parents sent her to an institution, believing that to be the only way to help their daughter. After she was released it seemed Abby might have a chance at a normal life. She graduated high school and then college becoming a real estate broker. One day, she arrives at a house she is getting ready to show. When she walks inside she's shocked when she opens the door and sees pictures of her brother all around the room. Scribbled on the floor is "you will pay" in red letters. After ten years, her brother is coming back to haunt her. Someone is making sure of that. Just give me your thoughts. Should I hang it up or keep writing? Okay, we can all agree that she will never be "cured", just coping. I have a great killer in mind for this and I was thinking of making it a murder/thriller/romance novel. Last night I added to the story that she blocked out some of the night, mainly shooting him. She will be accused of shooting him because she is found holding the gun-how should I handle the legality of it? Self defense or just plain murder? Should I have her parents believe her or not, since this was their son? Maybe have him abuse her when she was a child? give me some ideas.

When writing a book review do you tell the end of the story

When writing a book review do you tell the end of the story? Or do you leave them hanging? I was wondering and also do you tell the ending in a synopsis or summary too? 10points for all 3 + good info Thanks!
