I have 50K of words written for a fiction book but don't find MS word that friendly - can anyone suggest a relatively inexpensive alternative?

interested in writing fiction books for older children - teens (12-16 years) guidelines: style, interests, subjects teen interests and characteristics links publishing information

How to, not other fiction books. I've found some but I'm reluctant to spend money on something without a second opinion.

I have "Elements of Style" by Strunk & White, "On writing" By Stephen King, and "The art of Fiction" by John Gardner. Does anyone know of any more books dedicated to fiction writing? I'll also accept books that concentrate on one aspect of fiction writing. For example, a book dedicated solely to character development, or a book about dialog writing. Whatever suggestions you guys have will be very much appreciated.

If you write a science fiction book, would you make up a town, or would you use a real one? Im using a real one, but is this good to do?

Yeah i wana write fiction books and do illustration too. So far i havent found a collage that provides both. Or really even the fiction writting. I would really appreciatie it if you could give me a school name or anything on the matter really.

I have an entire universe planned out for a science fiction series of books I want to write. But the problem is: I don't write! I never had the patience to sit down and read entire books, either. I probably read like 5 or 6 fiction books cover-to-cover in my whole life. How do I start the writing process? I want this series to be so freaking huge and epic, and I want readers to be like, "Holy effing eff I could live inside this book it's so magnificently huge and excellent!" HELP MEHHHH!!

Looking for how to book on writing fiction. More specifically I'm looking for books on how to build tension, suspense, and mood. I feel becoming especially good in these 3 aspects is particularly important for me. So if you could recommend books on any of these subjects I'd appreciate. I'd also like it if the books were devoted mostly on these topics rather then be devoted on another topic and then have one or even all of these topics explained in only a chapter or two. Thanks : )

I want to be an author. Have always wanted to be one. And I've got a lil' extra cash in my pocket, so I figured I'd buy some books on writing fiction. I don't want ones that say things such as; "Your grammar must be good. You have to know what you're doing!" I don't need that. I've got great grammar. What I want, are books that talk about making your writing better. Books that teach you how to make your books not just legible, but fantastically written and interesting enough to have readers tearing through the pages! =) So if you know any books like this... I want to write a book but I'm not sure if I should write an autobiography or a non-fiction book as my first book. I was told that I could write a good book already by some samples I've already written but now its time to write a book and I'm clueless. Also what book do you think would sell more autobiography or non-fiction?
