Finally, you have decided to write that long awaited book that is sitting in your mind for years and yet have no time to pen it down. Well, this is the age of computers so make use of your PC and start to type your story out. Who knows, you can be the next J.K. Rowling.
However, there are usually problems (or obstacles as some would call it) when you want to write a book or ebook. You might be unsure if you truly want to do this. You might be scared that of rejection. People are either too encouraging or discouraging.
No worries. Help is on the way. You just need to be familiar with these tips and then the rest would be history.
1. Interest: Please write from your heart, about something that you know or you have created. Do not write something that is not what you want, but something you know that will make money.
2. Passion: You have no idea how important this is because this is the one thing that keeps you going in writing stuff you love.
3. Preparation: Why write when you don't even have a plan or story line. If you write without a proper start, you are bound to tumble. Get prepared for your story.
4. Time and effort: Yes, it is difficult to find the time to write your story especially if you have a full time job but if you have the heart to do the things you love, you will find a way to accomplish it.
5. Speed writing: If you can write fast, it is good. This means you can finish your book earlier, market it and earn more money sooner.
6. Marketing: You won't be able to sell without first market your book to the public. Get people to love your book and money will come to you.
7. Target: You are writing a book. You need to sell the book. Now, who is your audience? Are you targetting teenagers with a romance story? Are you writing a cookbook for mums? Make sure you know your target audience so you can increase the chances of selling more books.
8. Start small, think big: If this is your first book, consider writing a mini ebook to tease your audience. You can even write something that is non-related to your main book. Perhaps a money making ebook to give a head start for your fans.
9. Promotion: There will be a time when your readers expect something from you. Give them something useful or interesting to anticipate about. You can reveal parts of your work for them to have a 'taste' and decide if it is good enough for them to stay.
10. Make things happen: Miracle won't happen unless you work hard to make things happen. Approach publisher or be pro-active and self publish your own book.
Now that you have learned the 10 tips you need to know before writing that book in your mind, start practicing. Practice makes perfect, remember that! You will love writing very much.
