A New Mystery to Tickle Your FunnyBone

When author Maureen Landress and her husband Bob retired and moved to rural Dixie County Florida, they both planned on doing nothing more than a bit of gardening and a lot of relaxing. However, Mrs. Landress’ passion for writing moved with them, and it needed an outlet. Having worked for five years as feature writer and editor for a small island newspaper, she now turned her hand to creative writing, leaving behind the fact based journalism that she had become accustomed to. Her first efforts ended in frustration. Commiserating with friend and fellow author Terri DuLong, she took her friend’s advice to heart and changed her mental focus from “I’m going to write a novel” to “I’m going to write whatever pops into my head”. Taking pleasure once more in putting her thoughts on paper, in the form of short stories, instead of stressing over completing an entire novel, her writing took wing. Each short story she penned grew in length as her confidence increased, until one day she realized the story she was working on was over a hundred pages long. From there it was just a hop and a skip to draw it out into a full length novel, and Sour Grapes was born.

The next step proved even more difficult, finding a publisher, but with perseverance and research Mrs. Landress found a niche in the world of Print On Demand publishing. Once her manuscript was accepted by Infinity Publishing it was only a matter of months before her novel was finished and ready for the public. It is a life-long goal that she can now say has been accomplished.

The novel is a quirky mystery, the kind of book one reads for sheer enjoyment. Filled with oddball characters and a surprise ending, it is the perfect book to take along to the beach, or to sit and read on a rainy afternoon curled up in your favorite chair.
