Author of Civil War novel to sign books in Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Author Jessica James will sign copies of her award-winning debut book Shades of Gray: A Novel of the Civil War in Virginia in the Gettysburg area the week of July 4.
Released in January 2008 by Gettysburg-based Patriot Press, Shades of Gray recently won a prestigious IPPY award for Best Regional Fiction, and has gained national recognition for its balanced portrayal of the War Between the States.
Hailed as a “sympathetic and loving portrait” by the Historical Novel Society, Shades of Gray is an epic love story that takes readers on a journey across the rolling hills of northern Virginia. It is an emotional and moving story that illuminates the fine line between friends and enemies at a time when traditions and principles were worth defending at all costs.
James will sign copies of Shades of Gray on July 2, at the Union Mills Homestead in Union Mills, Md. as part of J.E.B. Stuart’s Ride re-enactment, and will appear July 3 at the Sheppard Farm for the Battle of Hanover re-enactment. On July 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., she will sign at The Gettysburg Gift Shop in the American Civil War Museum, and on July 5, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Patriot Point Village on Steinwehr Avenue in Gettysburg.
