Myths of the Fatherless: One Daughter's Discovery

11-09-2006 - Every little girl loves her daddy. But what happens when that daddy is missing? Or another man steps into his place? Society has accepted many myths about what that means to a child.

"Myths of the Fatherless: One Daughter's Discovery" attempts to dispel those myths by sharing the author's own story of her search for her father and eventual reunion with him. Through her own journey, she also discovered that she was not alone, that despite her denial she learned that fathers are very important to a woman and if, for whatever the reason, the father is missing, it affects, not only a woman's relationships with men but her entire life.

The author met her father for the first time in 2002. That prompted a desire to raise an awareness of fatherless daughters through writing: novels, books, articles, and blogs. And while she can't prevent one more child from being separated from her biological father, she hopes to raise an awareness of what it means to a woman to not know her father, and, hopefully, encourage her to take a step toward finding and meeting him, if possible. It took her over 40 years to do it and her only regret is that she waited so long.
