New Book Reveals Truth, Suffering and Aftermath of Domestic Violence

By Kelly Cyr

Kelly Cyr had everything a woman could ever want. A wonderful career, a beautiful home, five children she adored and a good future that could only promise more. The only problem is that her husband could not quit abusing her. Her battered life cloaked in secrecy, she kept trying to make the marriage work out of love for her family and her husband. Attempts at marriage counseling only made it worse and going to psychiatrists turned her life into a nightmare. When she could no longer take it, she served a restraining order.

Cyr writes candidly about how her life deteriorates after being drug from one court hearing after another. Acting out of rage and revenge, her husband makes good on his threat, saying, “I will get you if it takes every dime I have!” Her lawyer walks out on her and the judge ignores her pleas to allow her to move to run from him. Having no protection, she is forced to withstand his continual violence towards her.

Dominating her, he is successful in getting everything he wants. Falling apart, she makes many mistakes. Finally, they divorce, but it makes no difference in her life. Kane continues to abuse her until she caves in and has a nervous breakdown. Poignantly, she describes how she built an altar for battered women, fervently praying to God for answers and vowing to Him that she will help other battered women when this is all over, if He only helps her.

This is a horrific and harrowing account of what really happens during domestic violence. The author writes with great courage of her ordeal in the hope that the public becomes aware of what really happens in an abusive relationship and gains understanding. She writes to be a voice for battered women. Her mission now is to stop domestic violence. Her amazing life story, Supreme Love: A Battered Woman’s True Story is available on line on Amazon.com or Lions Den Publishing.com.

Kelly Cyr suffered first hand from domestic violence for nine long years. Ten years later, she is happily remarried to a wonderful man, who she calls "the saint of good husbands." Although she lost her career as a nurse, she is now a writer and speaker and has her own personal historian business, Lion's Den Publishing. She also hosts a weekly local TV show in Great Falls, Montana. Her children are grown now except for the youngest. Her life is proof that triumph can overcome tragedy and that God rescues, redeems and restores.
