Sky black on Windowpane - an illustrated poetry book

By Jennifer McCormick

Published author Michael Maxfield, born in London, Ontario, Canada, has written 60 heartfelt and thought-provoking poems in Sky Black on Windowpane (available in full-colour trade paperback or pdf download). Maxfield's poems center around awkward relationships and are thematic of love turned to obsession and love that is androgynous. Character based poems range from an ex-fire-fighter, traumatized soldier, lonely physicist, the mentally disturbed, to a Middle Eastern boy secretly wishing for peace in his war-torn country. Other poems are entitled The Sound of a Comet, I am the Universe, Poltergeist at the Door, and Blue Scream. Strong narrative threads are jammed with substance, and the visualization of these poems through Jennifer McCormick's graphic illustrations create stunning mental pictures that can't help but leave a mark on the reader.

"Seductively eccentric, at times blatantly harsh, at other times dreamy as though you are within the sleeping head of Michael Maxfield."

Jennifer McCormick - a fine artist and accomplished professional graphic designer, creates the visual experience to Maxfield's poems in Sky Black on Windowpane. Jennifer McCormick currently resides in London, Ontario and was educated through the Graphic Design program at Fanshawe College. Jennifer currently works full-time as a graphic designer and freelances in print design. She is marketing Sky Black on Windowpane and working on a second illustrated novel.
