To tell the story in a short spin,

'A Rose Between Two Elves' is a story of various contrasting characters that intertwine with Arien’s life, her love, her elfish family, and her secrets. William Defer, from the human world, arrives with documents that implicate Arien, otherwise known as the heart child, is not an elf, as everyone had believed. In the chaos, that follows this information, William returns home, but Arien dies, passes over into the afterlife before her time. Confronted by even more madness, deceitfulness, and misery in the form of a lord Mahtan, Arien must find her escape back to the breathing world with assistance from two afterlife dwellers.

What I truly like and sums up the whole of the book, is the prayer given near its end, ‘An hour, a minute, and a second of prayer, the words you say in your hour of need, answered, as it should be. Cruel is the hand of fate. Cruel is the cry unheard, cruel is life itself, but a life without emotions, is cruelty itself.’

These words so true indeed for what would life be without emotions, bland, boring, loveless, I cannot and don’t want to imagine a world without such things.
